Multi-talented artist, Masego is without a doubt among the most musically gifted young minds in hip hop right now. The singer-songwriter, rapper, saxophonist and producer has set himself apart from this generation of ‘Soundcloud rappers,’ by forging his own style of music, referred to as “TrapHouseJazz.” The Jamaican-born, Virginia-raised artist broke out after releasing The Pink Polo EP: a completely visionary collaboration with Dallas producer, Medasin. On this project, Masego seems to perfect his self-conceived genre of TrapHouseJazz, which sounds like the perfect blend of R&B, hip hop, house, and jazz music.
Lady Lady is Masego’s first project since The Pink Polo EP and also his first studio album. Naturally, expectations are high for the young star. In this album, Masego seems to settle into a more grounded R&B/Soul sound, while maintaining a heavy hip hop presence, with textures of trap and house being used more sparingly. Listen to the extremely groovy title track, Lady Lady, below.
