Big Red Machine is a collaborative project between Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon, and The National‘s Aaron Dessner. The duo’s first collaboration came in 2009 with their track, Big Red Machine, on the compilation album, Dark Was the Night. Their new project is also the flagship release by PEOPLE, an independent artist collective, founded partly by Vernon and Dessner.
Big Red Machine is a soothing collection of 10 songs which will satisfy expectations of either member’s fanbase. This album is the open-ended experiment between two of alternative music’s most creative minds. Vernon’s atmospheric folk melodies and auto-tuned vocals blend exceptionally well with the progressive rock textures brought in by Dessner. Check out their unique sound on the song, Gratitude, below.
